What is A Vogel Agnus Castus used for?

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a condition which occurs between 7 and 14 days before menstruatioon. The underlying cause is thought to be an imbalance between oestrogen & progesterone in the menstrual cycle. It has been suggested that high levels of prolactin, or an increased sensitivity to prolactin, may be implicated.

Characteristics of PMS is anxiety, irritability, mood swings, sore breasts and fluid retention followed by heavy, painful periods. this combination indicated high oestrogen and low progesterone.

Agnus Castus exerts a balancing effect on the activity of the female sex hormones, increasing progesterone levels and reducing prolactin. This activity may also be in benefit in those suffering from fibroids and endometriosis, under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Altering the level of prolactin in the body often facilitates conception, making Agnus Castus popular for infertility.

Agnus Castus may also be help during the menopause where the bleed is very heavy and too frequent.

 

 

How is A Vogel Agnus Castus used?

Adults: 15 - 20 drops in a little water, twice daily.

Children: This product is not recommended for children under 14 years of age. Female Essence is a useful alternative.

Note: To be effective it must be taken daily, not just when symptoms appear.

How long can it be taken for?

No retriscitons to long term use. Take for at least 3 montsh for best results.

Who cant take it?

Do not take if using oral contrapceptives, HRT or other hormonal preparation.

Not recommend for girls who have just starting menstruating, as their systems needs time to settle down. Wait for 2 years after the start of menstruatio before using Agnus Castus.

The product is not recommended in pregnancy & nursing unless directed by a Healthcare Professional.

How does A Vogel Agnus Castus work?

* Acts on the pituitary gland to increase the secretion of luteinising hormone (LH), which leads to greater production of progesterone during the second half the menstrual cycle.

* Increases the level of progesterone relative to oestrogen. This hormonal shift favouring progesterone helps to reduce premenstrual symptoms & alleviates menstrual disorders e.g. heavy menstrual bleeding and painful periods (whch are related to high oestrogen levels).

* Inhibits prolactin.
